I’m a below knee amputee. (Did you know?) At first I didn’t really want to see my limb. I didn’t avoid it and I don’t hide that I have it, I just never was the one to flaunt it either. But recently I find myself catching a glance in the mirror, laying in the tub, or lounging on the bed with a book or journal and… there’s just something about the shape of the whole leg now…
I do. But I also know that while you may be different, you are no less human. Some things that may be taken for granted by others may not be present, but you also have the ability to do what others cannot do: spin words to make meaning and beauty… Elegantly.
i knew
it never made a difference

my disabilities
are a machine for a heart
and a chip on my shoulder
whine~ bitch~ moan! complain
