The hole in his heart felt endlessly deep and hollow. There was nothing good about his situation and he felt like he was completely trapped.
When women are battered, there’s always judgment about why they stay and how they got there but there’s also still the compassion for them… The weaker sex.
Regardless of how much society has evolved, when men are the battered ones, the judgment is worse. How could someone so strong in the world be… battered?
So here he was in the hole dug by a harpee of a woman who used and abused him, who disregarded his wants and needs in every way, and the only question left was not whether the hole existed but whether he would ever choose to climb out of it.
