Delicate

Her heart was a web of delicate and seemingly contradictory idiosyncrasies, some brought into being out of necessity and others present having always been there, carefully hidden and tucked away for far too long for all the wrong reasons. There was the he who had always built her up relentlessly before purposefully tumbling her from the pedestal he put her on and the one who had kept her as a pet, a bird in a gilded cage whose only purpose was to sing on his command.

She’d learned through a thousand lessons reasons to stay closed off and yet she felt tempted to open the door…
